How to add text from CMS to left column on homepage

Hi, i would like to have small part of text page created in CMS displayed in left column on homepage.

I mean, i have created text page "About us" in CMS, and would like to display first 500 letters with link read more on homepage. Any easy way how to do this ?

A simple way to do this would be to use a module like Add Stuff. You could create a basic HTML page with your 500 letters then add a link to your CMS page. That's about as simple as I can think of
