tables!

Hello!

 

I've been playing around with homefeatured.tpl trying to wrap the <li> tags within a table.

 

I'm have difficulties configuring the table to display the way I would like

 

I'm getting a fourth <td> tag at the left, that I would like to get rid of.. so if anyone knows how to code it I'd be very grateful. I have also uploded a picture to show what I mean

Why you are doing with html tables when you can get this functionality in simple CSS?

Well I am opting for a design like this .. I don't know how to achieve it with css (I've tried). Everyone accomplishing have used tables but I guess there is a way of doing it with css as well ...
