Testing environment

Hi,

I need help creating a testing environment for my store. I wish to update my store and install new modules, but obviously I would like to test the results first.

In some forums people recomend installing prestashop in a folder of your server, but for me it is not that simple. I have installed and uninstalled many things, I use a custom theme, and I have changed several things. So in order to test things for real life I would have to make A COPY OF MY SHOP, just how it is now (installing everything again is not an option).

How can I do this? How do I put it in a subdomain? (testing.myshop.com)

Thanks,

Krolita

Hello,

You just need to create a subdomain using Plesk or cPanel if you are using one of them. After that just copy all the files to your local directory, create a backup of your PrestaShop system too. Then create a different database table and copy all the files to subdomain's folder. Do not forget to change config.php and settings.php files and adjust them to your test system's configuration. Finally, you should have a working cope of your live system in a subdomain and that's quite easy to do.
