jeyjoo
Im using PS 1.4.6.2 I would like to create 4 categories (not subcategories). However i cannot find the option to create new category. All I get is the default category attached to the Home page. Any ideas. thanks
Richard S
This topic was discussed earlier many times. PrestaShop just works like that an all your main categories are subcategories of Home category. So if you want to create a category, you just make it a subcategory of home category. I hope that is clear.

Sarak
Sorry to be difficult but what if you don't want to do that? What if you would like to have several "main" categories to stand on their own and each of those have their own subcategories? What if you don't want everything to appear under "Home"? There must be a way, like a specific database change, or a module out there? I've spent hours trying and testing but cannot find a solution. I nearly broke my site because I entered the wrong number while using PHPMyAdmin. I say that there must be a way because I know of a shop that was built with Prestashop and they have managed to create several seperate parent categories for their products. You'd think that, what with all the different versions that are always coming out, Prestashop would make creating your own main categories a priority. I'm sure many users would love that feature. hernanlr
Same issue here. It´s a pity this is not taken seriously in the forum, for I haven´t been able to quickly find a solution to this... Please inform if you do. Thanks and regards, Hernán
Sarak
One of my sites is http://www.dilevafashion.com I created the categories I wanted under "Home". Then, I used the Top Horizontal Menu module to put the categories I wanted in the menu on the website. The "New In" category was created with the "Add Top Menu Link" section with the Top Horizontal Menu menu. Hope this helps Edited August 14, 2012 by Sarak (see edit history)
