Darkmarauder
After looking at using Google Checkout as one of my payment methods I ended up realising I was going to have to use SSL.So, I double checked I have an SSL certificate (referencing the root www.website.com type name), and then turned on 'Enable SSL' in the back office of the shop. So, now when I go to my shop www.website.com for example, that's ok. But when I attempt to login as a customer, I can see it trying to go to a https address and I then get an error 404 message.Any ideas? This does NOT happen when 'Enable SSL' is turned off in the shops back office.Regards
prestabase
Darkmarauder,It sounds like you do not have an SSL certificate. Do you remember being assigned a dedicated IP and having your host install an SSL?
Darkmarauder
I do have an SSL certificate (checked in my hoster package, then on cpanel), but don't remember being given a dedicated IP address. Even so, I'm guessing as the IP address for my domain doesn't change, that I have?

prestabase
Within cPanel, does it show "shared IP address:..." or "Dedicated IP address:..." along the left hand side? (x3 style)
qasrani
There are a lots of SSL errors now a days as sites are continuously updating their SSL certificates. My own webhost's SSL is revoked many times by Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. I wonder how they provide SSL to others I think, all thanks goes to Microsoft IE6
Darkmarauder
Right it's been a little while but I need to catch up on this problem.I now have a ssl certificate all sorted out but I've got some problems on the shop still.I can use my test user to login, which takes you to the https area of the site. If you then try to go back to the shop categories, it prompts me with 'this item contains both secure and nonsecure items, do you want to display the nonsecure items' and upon saying no the formatting on the page is all wrong *but no error messages*.I've attached a screenshot of the errorAny help on this would be great. qasrani
Atleast I can not say anything about this, can you check it on different browsers?
Darkmarauder
Sadly looks like the same problem in Firefox v3.0 but with its own version of the same error message that IE7 gives.I have attached the screenshot.
davidtnb
Had the same problem... Looks like you are using a SSL certificate from your server. You are going to have to purchase your own SSL certificate (I got mine from RapidSSL.com for $15 a year)

Darkmarauder
Not so much solved this one, although did realise it was a majority of the content I switched over to https and it was fine.I've got some mixed content (http and https) on a couple of pages but better than it was.
