csk
Hi, I think that could be a good idea add a module in the new Prestashop 1.5 to edit the fields in the costumer registration page. I believe that many fields of the registration page are unnecessary especially for stores that sell only digital products. Currently to edit the checkout page you need to modify some PrestaShop files and the database. That process requires technical knowledge of the user. Who agrees? We need a module or an tutorial about this issue
saynernz
I agree and am currently wracking my brain and searching furiously for a solution which I assume could easily be taken care of by a module. For instance, I don't need to know my customer's phone numbers - and I have a client who needs an additional field added into the form for additional user data which also needs to be visible through the backend in the customer's information, as well as visible in customer order details, and editable by the admin if necessary. Being able to easily add and remove custom fields to the registration form would be of great benefit to merchants who need to gather more specialised information from their registrants too.

subulica
Glade to hear that. Maybe in this version you will be more enthusiastic and happy because new ppl has starting using PrestaShop . In my opinion because i come from a wordpress i need a free module which can help me to keep my old links in the PS. Now is a module but is verry expensive. Mark Hesketh
Hi guys, I recently requested this as a Hook in another thread http://www.prestashop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/152916-new-hooks-in-15/page__view__findpost__p__748247 and the team replied saying that it will be added in Prestashop 1.5 Having a hook available would make it much easier for modules be able to do this. At the moment there's not really anyway around it without having to dig into the code and make edits unfortunately I'm setting up a digital products store at the moment too, when I've finished editing the checkout I'll make a post/article with step by step instructions on how to add and remove fields. It might be really worth your while looking at .htaccess 301 rewrites. You'll be able to set up all your redirects yourself for free. I don't know how much you know about these sort of things, but its a good skill to have, and you'll be able to set up redirects for any store/website you make in the future no problem. mexique1
There is already a hook, can't remember its name, something like "createAccount". Combined with the hook that is called in the bottom of the registration page, it should make the trick. The problem is that this hook is triggered after the user is successfully created, so it's impossible to validate the form inputs.
