Hi Vartax,

I see that you have your install folder still present. After you install your store you should remove the install folder. That maybe the cause of the issue during the update.

I hope that helps.

Well the install folder is there because the error appears during the upgrade in the smile before the last one. after the compatibility check.

  • 5 weeks later...

I recently ran into this same issue late last night.

I decided to take my store offline at around 1:00am EST so that I could do backup and upgrades, seemed like a logical time to accomplish this.

I am currently on v1.4.4.0 and was going to upgrade to v1.4.6.2 which I assumed would be an easy task, just a daunting one to do all of the backups (triplicate backups cause I wanted to make sure I backed it up safely).

Well around 4am I finally go all of the backups done, so I downloaded the latest version since upgrading through the Admin Panel wasn't going to work, not for sure why just wouldn't. So I download the new zip, unzipped it, copied my modules, images and other files over to it... changed the settings file and then uploaded all of the files. 5am rolls around and finally all of the files are there and I followed the upgrade process to the T. So I go to the /install/ folder and start to do the upgrade, it goes through next.. next... until it gets to this same error as listed here.

I have attached some screenshot images of the issues I am having.

I went through and looked at the file in question but couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. Honestly I don't even ship to Canada yet, and that module in the Admin Area is not even installed or setup.

But it was saying otherwise a success, so I started playing around testing everything else to see if things were working or if I would have to start over. When I clicked on Modules in the Admin Area I was presented with an error "TECHNICAL ERROR[object XMLHttpRequest]" which had me baffled, I went through to see what was enabled or echo'ing out or something that may be causing this issue that has since arised after doing the upgrade. When it disabled my additional modules that it had me say "OK" to during the upgrade, those modules are listed on the FTP but not through the Admin Area, so I am sure maybe one of those would be the cause so I went through and re-installed all of them which didn't help any.

Also during this process I cannot go to /Shipping/Carriers/ it just shows a blank page now.

So I have tried re-uploading the files and doing another upgrade and it failed as well.

So I am currently back to my original setup after going through and using my backup and dumping and resetting up the database and everything else.

Would really like to know why in the world a module that is not even in use is causing the failure of the upgrade.

May just have to wait till 1.5 and potentially try to import or resetup things.
