Product attribute part of my stock control ??

Is it just me, as it seems all Ecommerce packages have this problem. Or do they.

I have say some shoes for sale, 50 of the same style. Unfortuneatly due to my wholesaler, I only have 10 off in UK size 7 and 40 off size 8. You could expand this further by saying of the 10 UK size 7 I have 1 red one and 9 black ones.

Instead of making seperate products with no size attributes. How can I set the product attribute to be part of my stock control ?? Instead of me selling 50 off UK size 7, which I do not have.
