Help With Media Servers Configuration

Recommended Posts

Happy New Year guys and let it be successful for us all :)

I`m trying hard to make my site use Media Servers for static content. I worked the process suggested here http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/99443-prestashop-14-using-ccc-performance-and-media-servers/ , but it did not work for me. Images not loading...

I host my site on "shared" hosting @ Mediatemple.

1. I use a sub domain for media server. Is it mandatory to use a separate domain?

2. PS is not copying anything to it. Should I copy the files manually and what else will be needed besides cache and images.

Is there any possibility for an official guide on Media Server configuration?

Thank you in advance for your replays and tips are welcome :)

Hi all,

I tried to set up media servers exactly as Rocky said in the post referenced by Ego - I set up a subdomain in cpanel and called it static.mysite.com, set up a redirect from the subdomain to www.mysite.com and entered the subdomain url in the BO (performance). I didn't copy any files at all. It worked fine and there was a noticeable speed increase. Using firebug I could see that static content was being served from the media server.

However, I have ssl installed on my store and when on an ssl page no images or css are loaded, because obviously no ssl certificate is installed on the subdomain. From searching the forums/forge it seems this was a bug that was fixed in an early version of 1.4 but bizarrely re-introduced in later versions (I'm using 1.4.6).

What needs to happen is that the static content is called from the media servers when on regular pages (http), but when on an ssl page the content should be called from it's original location.

Anyone know how to fix this as it's a shame this performance tweak can't be used?

Cheers
