Out-Of-Range Shipping - Is There A Way To Not Have It Exist

Recommended Posts

When setting up weights there doesn't seem to be a way to have it self-extend logically. I've set weights in 30kg increments up to 150kg, but would like to extend beyond this without having to create every single range manually. Most programs that have these kind of shipping pricing ranges have a way to have the table run to infinitity by allowing you to set a price per additional weight/value. In my case I'd want to set a price for each additional 30kg. Does Prestashop really not have this possibility? I've read everything I can find (including the wiki) on shipping and out-of-range behaviour and can't find anything about it.

While I'm posting, and in the hope that this is also read by developers - the weight and price tables, though they may be logical they are completely irrational and cause a lot of confusion as evidenced by the number of postings related to them. They're irrational because they work the opposite way to the way people think. Instead of being inclusive/exclusive they should be exclusive/inclusive.

When you set your first range - say 0-1kg, there is no point in 0kg being inclusive, because you can't send air.

If you have a courier who's maximum box weight is 30kg, most people are going to set the last part of the weight table as, say, 20.01-30kg. If you have a product that is 30kg, it will be out of range because the 30kg is excluded, and the end of the range needed to be 30.01kg in order to include 30kg. There is no postal service or courier on earth that presents their price/weight tables in this kind of format.

Also, when you enter weights the field is not wide enough to see weights over 99.999kg. If I enter 120.001 all I wind up seeing is 20.001. Or if I go back into it to modify it I see 120.00 and the final 1 is not visible.

You should suggest it to the Prestashop team (the forum is not the place for suggestion), although I would not hold my breath for it, they are quite busy with PS 1.5 and these are not really bugs, but rather feature changes.

That said, if many people will request it, they may make it a priority.
