I would like to move the search block to the left column.

In your back office, select the Modules tab, then the Positions sub section.  Towards the top of the positions content is an option called Transplant a Module, go here select the module you want to move from the drop down menu, then select the new position of that block from the Hook menu.

That will get your search block into the left column (one of the first things I did too), however, I have yet to figure how to remove the block from the header.  As I now have the quick search displayed in the left column and header.

I've only been playing with Prestashop for about four hours now, so I have more to learn, so I can't answer the second question.

Thanks for stepping in to help a fellow user, wbclassics.  It's very much appreciated! :)

As for changing the names of module blocks:

1. Go to Back Office >> Tools >> Translations

2. On the Translations page, got the Modify Translations section and select Modules translations in the drop-down list.

3. Click the appropriate language flag.

4. Search for the various blocks whose titles you want to change (e.g., "TAGS, CATEGORYS, CART, TOP SELLERS") and modify them accordingly.

Have just found it.

The back office feature that allows the change in position of modules does not show the 'permanent link' or 'quicksearch' module in the drop down selector.

To move the module search I had to modify the database table that contains the module position.

After changing the position of the module there was a search box in the left column (what i wanted) and a search box in the header (which I didnt want)

Solution - In the blocksearch module in the modules folder there were 2 .tpl files

block-search-header.tpl and block search.tpl.

I deleted the bolcksearch_header.tpl file and voila! It is now as I wanted it to appear. Only one search box in the left column.

Perhaps one of the development people could just chech that what I did hasnt interfered with other functions.

Also is the lack of blocksearch and permanentlinks in the drop down selector in the move modules BO function a bug or oversight. They definitely appear in the db tables.

This is a mod made in v1/0 RC2

Hope this helps

Cheers Peter A

Peter A, it is actually much much easier than that.  I initially overlooked Presta's built in method of removing boxes.

On the positions page, scroll down to the "Top of Pages" section, there you'll see Quick Search listed with a red X to the right of the quick search module description.  Clicking the red X removes the Quick Search from the top of your page.

This does not remove the module from use, it simply removes the top of page location.  The red X exists for all of the module positions.

It is easy to overlook... I felt silly once I realized it was so easy!  (BTW, I just checked this in RC2, works fine)

This is what I have been waiting for!  I thought that was how it worked, but I was afraid of zapping it completely.

I've really been struggling with moving things around so it will be easier to convert to a two-column site.  (I zapped everthing in the right column hehehe)  I hope I will succeed, but I'm kinda worried.

Thank you Peter an wbclassics!

Thanks Guys and Gals,

Great to have it all sorted.

wbclassic did you find the permanent link and search box in the dropdown tab. This in v1.0rc2 did not display those modules in the install I did?

Peter
