defensetechga
I have been adding products to my site, but today for some odd reason when I copy and past text into the description field (ctrl V) the text is not fully visable, this just started today. If I hit indent all of the text and bullets are there but I cannot edit it without seeing it, its a pain and time consuming. It also does it when i use the paste from word option, Anyone know the cause of this and how to fix it Thanks in advance
Mike Kranzler
Hi defensetechga, Can you please try typing some text manually into those fields and let me know if the indentation is still "off"? -Mike
defensetechga
Manual typing is working fine, it the strangest thing since I have built in over 700 products so far with no issue then suddenly yesterday it started doing this. I tried some searches on clipboard issues and shut off windows areo, tried safari, explorer and chrome. Have been using chrome all along. I uploaded my site security cert to chrome added as trusted to other browsers, and turned off aero in win 7 but no luck.

In this situation, it sounds more like a clipboard issue than a problem with the description windows. Can you please try pasting the text into a simple text editor and then paste it from there into the Product description? There may be some hidden formatting in your content that is causing this issue. -Mike
defensetechga
I just tested that it pastes in fine, I also checked by pasting in using the text from a item i previously added with no issue but the alignment is off Its odd that it would suddenly start happening, and for an item that pasted fine to be doing it now is even more strange
defensetechga
I had the thought yesterday it may have been the format but tested it and same result, I havent had any changes to my computer.
Mike Kranzler
I just tested that it pastes in fine, I also checked by pasting in using the text from a item i previously added with no issue but the alignment is off What do you mean by "it pastes in fine?" If I understand your issue correctly, its that the problem is your items are NOT pasting correctly. Have you tried copying the text to a simple text editor first, and then copying it over from there to your Product Description as I requested above? Its odd that it would suddenly start happening, and for an item that pasted fine to be doing it now is even more strange Is this restricted to a single product listing, or is this now happening on all of your products? -Mike
defensetechga
when i copy text to word-pad then copy it from there I paste it into the description via copy from word and it pastes and is view-able. It is happening to all products when editing, even when i create a new one, its doing the same thing.
Mike Kranzler
when i copy text to word-pad then copy it from there I paste it into the description via copy from word and it pastes and is view-able. It is happening to all products when editing, even when i create a new one, its doing the same thing. In this case, it sounds to me like some sort of formatting issue in your original file. I would check to see if you've accidentally selected or deselected a setting somewhere in there which could be causing you these problems, or alternatively, copy everything in that file to word-pad, open a brand new document and paste it back into there (or even just leave everything in word-pad and save it there). I hope this helps. -Mike
defensetechga
Unfortunately its copy and paste from the suppliers site, unfortunately it looks as though my work just increased until I can isolate the cause. Thank you for your help its greatly appreciated!!
Mike Kranzler
I'm glad I could help, but am sorry that you're having this issue. It might be worth contacting your supplier to find out if anything has changed on their end recently. In any case, I'll go ahead and mark this as solved for you. -Mike
