mayday
Using PrestaShop 1.1 Go to: Backoffice > Tools > Translations > Import Language Pack Getting Error: "archive cannot be extracted"Search the forums for this problem and it appears the most common causes are permission setting for directory: /themes/prestashop/langorphp must have safe_mode set to "off"I've confirmed, to the best of my ability that I have these things correctly set. More info:modifying translations manually (Backoffice > Tools > Translations > Modify translations > edit something and hit 'Update Translations' works fine ... so that tells me that my permissions are correct. Right?I also confirmed that safe_mode in my php settings is set to off using the common info.php file. What else can I do? Can I just extract the de.gzip file locally and ftp it up somewhere on the server?Extremely greatful for any help, MayDay
mayday
Finally figured it out ... 4 hours later.I unziped the de.gzip file and by looking through it with a text editor you can see the specific filenames that will be updated.I (for who-the-helllll-knows-why) had a couple individual files in my /modules and /mails that didn't have the server-write permission granted...I have a headache. Hope this saves someone in the future.

San Diego
hi,just to let you know, most of the translations at the download site don´t work with ps1.1 the german zip is translated manually from the german forum and packed from me with the ps1.1if you install a new language, you have first to create it, in the backend, before you install the gzip. than it must work perfectonly as i mentioned in the forum the email needs to be translated manually from english to german to show the details they get from the shopping cart, especially the bankwire emails. just check out my posts.SD

robincox
hi, i think because the securities on your host it n't permit you to used this feature, me too, i'm installed it done on my local and upload all of it to my host.i had ever installed ps on another host which used cpanel its work fine. This most certainly is the case. I had the exactly same problem and it turns out that my clients host had a web-hotel that used php safe mode on which permanently sets write-access to folders (that was created by a php script) off. Since Prestashop creates a couple of new folders for the new language files, it produces the error.
