[SOLVED] Internet Explorer 8 problem

Recommended Posts

I've got the problem that everyone else seems to have. My website doesn't display properly in internet explorer 7 or 8.

it works fine in firefox and chrome.

the product page is ok but the banners on the homepage are on the right instead of in the centre.

which .css file do i need to edit? there are hundreds of them and i can't find the right one to add a hack.

Hi bouncegifts,

This is actually an issue with Internet Explorer itself, due to the fact that it only supports up to 30 CSS calls, while PrestaShop can have much more. The best thing you can do to limit this is enable "Use CCC for CSS" in your Back Office under Preferences > Performance, although that still may not completely optimize things for IE.

I hope this helps.

Ah thank you.

Strangely enough, I had CCC already switched on. BUT..i just switched it off and now it works in Internet Explorer

Ah well, i'll leave CCC off for now, even if it takes a bit longer to load the page, i'd rather that than have a website that looks awful.

How strange. There must be a problem with my CSS file. It's working though.

Unfortunately, I've run this both on actual installations of IE and using a tool called IETester that allows you to view the same site across any and every version of IE, and I wasn't able to replicate this on my end. If you would like, I can set you up with a member of our advanced support team, but it really doesn't look like a global issue with your site.

Hi Luis,

As I've mentioned several times on this thread and others, this is an issue with Internet Explorer's internal limits, not anything to do with PrestaShop's software. We are working to make adjustments for IE users, but the key is to not handicap the software elsewhere. Have you already enabled "Use CCC for CSS?"

I didn't know about this problem with IE 7/8, but many users just told me they can't see any text at all in the product page.

I tried enabling "Use CCC for CSS", but nothing changed.... :-/

More than 20% of our customers use IE 8.

Prestashop version: 1.4.6.2.

Any idea please??
