stargazer
I upgraded Prestashop and now my Home Page text Editor will not update any text. I can upload images but the text boxes are blank - and when I add text and update, they are blank again. I have gone thru every post on this and nothing works. My settings for permissions are all 755 - and i have tried unistalling and updating the module fresh. This is a critical element and I should have just left the old Prestashop. Had I know they had not sorted out simple bugs like this, I would have not updated.
tomerg3
It's likely something went wrong with your upgrade, as this features works correctly in a new install. Do you see the text you enter in the backoffice? Are you sure all the files for the new installation were copied over? What was the old version, what is the new one? stargazer
I upgraded to PrestaShop 1.4.4.1 - I am not entirely sure what my previous version was. Read thru google, I find this is common as an error. I believe I did the installation right - its the holidays now and very hard to do another upgrade and have my site down for hours. I see the text I enter in the box, then I click update or save and the boxes are all blank again. thanks
tomerg3
Can you check that the module was properly uploaded (/modules/editorial) and that all the files inside match the same as in the PS 1.4.4 installation zip file. It's possible that there was a problem when you upgraded the site, as in PS 1.4 I believe those values are saved in the database, whereas before they were saved in an xml file. stargazer
I have already done that too with no success. Thanks for your assistance but this is a bug which has not been fixed - it should be quite simple as this is essential for your site and SEO especially. tomerg3
Have you reported it or seen it on the bug tracker?
stargazer
Yes I see all kinds of errors related to the home text editor, including this one, on the bug tracker. But no solutions. Can I ask you the proper procedure for uploading the module. Can I just use an FTP program and delete the old one and put a new one as I did or is there another method? I know Wordpress usually works better if you upload the modules thru the backend. I really need to fix this. thanks
tomerg3
You can delete the old one and upload a new one using FTP, it is exactly the same as doing it from the browser.
stargazer
Ok cool thats what I did and still no luck. Someone told me it might have something to do with some cache setting - do you know how I can change or turn that off? I think they said FS Cache. tomerg3
The cache in Prestashop is in Preferences->Performance
stargazer
I still cannot fix this problem. Nothing has worked, I cannot edit or add text to the home page of my site.
Mike Kranzler
Hi stargazer, Can you please PM me with your Back Office login credentials (username, password and admin URL) so that I can look into this? -Mike
pietro
How did you solve this issue? I am experiencing the same problem. I can upload the Homepage logo but none of the other fields would update. Once you hit the "Update the editor" button all fields return blank. Made an update from 1.3.7 to 1.4.6.2 Thanks,

Mike Kranzler
Hi pietro, How exactly did you upgrade from 1.3.7 to 1.4.6.2? It appears that when you upgraded the software, the database wasn't properly upgraded alongside, so when you try to add information to the Home Text Editor module, it is not writing into the database. -Mike

I followed the instructions in the PS Update Guide. Basically I uploaded the files to my server, replace folders (mail, img, themes, download, modules, etc.) and then ran the "install" file. How can I correct the database? I am suspecting that other issues that I am encountering are related to this. Thanks again, P.
Mike Kranzler
Hi Pietro, I'm going to have to look into this for you a little more deeply, but assuming your followed all of the directions, including backing up your site in advance, you may want to try to restore it back to your 1.3.7 install and then try our experimental AutoUpgrade module to see if that works better for you. I hope this helps. -Mike

The problem is that if I use it I will loose all the changes I have made in the past 3 days since the update, which is significant. Thanks again, P.
