Advice on how to add an affiliate button

Hello there,

 

I have searched the forum for different ways of adding an affiliate button to my products. Each button must contain an unique URL that leads to the dealer's product page, and it must be possible to assign the affiliate URLs through the .csv data feed import tool that can be found in Prestashop.

The approaches to implementing an affiliate button I have found, haven't worked on my PS 1.4.6.2

But I can't get anything of it to do anything. Nothing happens. Nada!

I'm not that skilled in php so I don't know if I am not following the guide correctly or if it is because the solution is for an older version of PS(?)

 

Anyways, can someone suggest an easy (or just doable) way of adding an affiliate button to a shop's product page that also works with the data feed import tool?

Perhaps my question was too specific. I assume that a Prestashop is being used by many people for affiliating. What is the common approach for adding a new button that contains an affiliate URL that is defined through the data feed import tool in Prestashop?

I've not learned (myself) that the short product field is useful for that purpose.
