How to edit the emails customers receive when placing orders

Thank you so, much. I figured it was easy. But I've been spending my time trying to find out how or what to edit to add new text on order confirmation page when the customer checks out.

 

I've found the text in the TPL files for each payment module, but when I enter some lines of text to display, in the TPL file they don't.

 

Do you know what has to be edited to change text for the Order Confirmation page displayed during checkout?

Or you can just do it in the back office. Go to BO, Tools, Translations, under modify translations, select email template translations, select the language you want and that will put you into the email templates, edit the ones you want and then click on "Update" at the bottom

 

How do I add text to the emails that are automatically sent to customers when they purchase?
