cass01
I have just finish installing my prestashop and want to get into the back office. I already followed the instructions and remove the install file and changed the admin name. But when i tried to login with my email and password, an error keeps coming up saying 'Employee does not exist or password is incorrect.' I have already received an email from prestashop about my personal login information of my email address and password for logging in. Please help on how to fix this problem. Thanks everyone in advance. Cassidy
Mike Kranzler
Hi Cassidy, This is often due to an issue during the installation process. Since you haven't accessed your Back Office to start adding products yet, the quickest way to fix this would actually be just to delete all the files and do a clean reinstall from scratch. There are some more technical approaches, but this is the fastest and easiest way, especially for a brand new store. And if you continue to have issues on this, please don't hesitate to post your issue here. I hope this helps. -Mike
cass01
I have tried deleting all the files and reinstall from scratch. But it still say the same error. Is it that I have to use a different browser to install( using firefox when installing) or any other problems it might be?
Mike Kranzler
Hi Cassidy, Unfortunately, this should not be happening for you if you follow the step-by-step instructions posted here. Mike Kranzler
Hi Cassidy, This is usually due to an issue with your server's configuration. Is this a brand new installation or an existing store? -Mike

Mike Kranzler
This is a brand new installation Hi Cass, Who is your hosting provider? In this case, it might be best to just delete everything and do a fresh installation, because as long as you have the proper hosting and database information and the correct server configuration, it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to get everything up and running and past this issue that has stopped you for the last couple of days. If you have any questions about configuration or specific options during installation though, please let me know and I will be happy to help you. -Mike
cass01
Hi Mike, I have tried deleting everything and start from fresh, But in the end, the same problem is occurring and every time I install, it wont let me go to the last page where it say installation is complete. I am using inmotion for my hosting. Is it my hosting problem or is there still something i am doing wrong? Cassidy
Mike Kranzler
Hi Cassidy, If you're continuing to have trouble with installation despite the instructions we've already provided, it could potentially be a hosting issue. But before we go down that road, can you please try the following workaround: 1) Go to your Front Office, and register yourself on your store as a customer with the password that you want to be the admin password. 2) Goto PhpMyAdmin >> Customer >> copy the password key from user ID you just registered. 3) Goto PhpMyAdmin >> Employee >> paste the copied key on the password column of your admin ID. *These are encrypted so please do not change anything while you copy paste.* Please let me know if this works for you. If not, it likely is a hosting issue and I'll be happy to make some recommendations on alternate hosting providers. -Mike
cass01
Hi Mike, I have actually in the back office now following the instructions. But once I login to the back office it still say its access denied. This is a picture of where i am stuck now. I asked the hosting and they say that there shouldn't be a problem installing prestashop to their hosting

Mike Kranzler
Hi Felix, Please try restoring your password through your database by following these step: 1. Access your hosting provider's database (such as phpMyAdmin) through their control panel 2. Find the ps_employee table 3. Replace the value for your employee email with another which you have access to 4. Go back to your Back Office Admin URL and follow the lost password dialogue 5. Check your email, follow the directions and then log back in Please let me know if this works for you. -Mike

Mike Kranzler
Hi Zelle, Is this a brand new installation? -Mike
zellenelson
Hi Mike, Yes it is a brand new installation. I am able to view my store. I am able to add a customer. My employee table was blank so I added an employee, used the customer password, no luck. I have tried reinstalling 3 times. I am following a post I found directly concerning my host: Fat Cow. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/17459-problem-installing-presatshop-on-fatcow/ It says to install from: yoursite.com/subdirectory/install/index.php I am now reloading the install folder and the admin folder. I plan to try the install process once these files are loaded. I will keep you posted how this works out. Thanks for the quick reply. zellenelson
Hi Mike, I followed the process above and I am unable to go past the database configuration page step 3 in the installation, even though we verified the database settings and they check out fine. The store itself exists. http://blueprintofwe.com/blueprintstore What should I do next? Zelle
zellenelson
Hi Mike, Problem solved. I have successfully installed Prestashop and can access the back office. 1. I did a fresh loading of all the files to my host Fat Cow (deleting the prior installation first). 2. I deleted old databases I had set up for my previous Prestashop installation attempts. 3. I added a new database with a new database name. 4. One issue I think may be important for Fat Cow users is if you had any previous databases used for other programs (I am converting from an old store software) it helped that I used the same username and password as I used in the other databases used in other programs. 5. Used Opera to install 6. Used this url to install: yoursite.com/subdirectory/install/index.php It is great to have a forum!!! Zelle
