Layered Navigation, Packs and Attributes

Hi

I've created a pack (using Advanced Pack 4) which contains multiple products each with their own attribute set. This works fine in the product display.

However, although the attributes for each product pull through to make the pack, the layered navigation within this category doesn't pull the attributes through.

Is this a bug, limitation or a configuration issue? The developer of Advanced Pack says its a Layered Navigation issue and not a Advanced Pack issue. I tend to agree.

At the moment in order to 'search' on the attributes for the pack product I have to 'add again' the attributes in the pack product. This is a duplication of effort and data, which is undesirable.

Please see the following urls.

Product with attributes and search options...

Pack which contains above product (and attributes) but has no search options...

Any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

I suppose what I'm asking is "How do I copy attributes programmatically without having to add them again in a newly generated product?"

You would think if an attribute is on a product and the product is copied into a new category (to make a pack for example) the attribute would STILL be available in the layered navigation as a filter when looking at the new category. This doesn't appear to be the case.

Many thanks for any advice to help me move forward on this.
