How to assign multiple values to one feature?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

There doesn't seem to be any way to assign more than one value to a product feature.

I have products that use features like "Suitable for" and those require to have more than one Value assigned. Comma-separating those values isn't a good idea as I won't to enable customers to filter by features (like Suitability) with the help of the Layered Navigation Module.

Is there any known workaround for those limitations?

It is not a limitation, you are going about it the wrong way.

There is nothing special about "Suitable for" to make it a feature. Like any other attribute simply create an attribute group "Suitable for" (or whatever) with the relevant values (e.g. moe, curly, larry). Then create combinations with it for the relevant products. Look at the default install "Disk space" for an example (Back Office > Catalog > Attributes and Groups)

Attributes and Groups are intended for letting a user choose which variation of a product he wants to order. I already use it for sizes and colors. My example with "Suitable for" isn't anything that should be chosen by the customer but instead a feature, that belongs into the data sheet or specifications of the product and here i need to be able to assign more than one value. This isn't possible i guess?

The disk space example isn't related to my problem - disk space is a feature the user has to select when buying the product. My features just need to be displayed and available for searching and filtering products. The feature option in Prestashop is exactly that I just need to be able to set multiple values for one feature.

I am facing the same issues as I am trying to split the features values to use it for Layered Navigation Module and another module that filters out the features.

Were you able to find someone who was able to do code modification to the import database in order to achieve this? I did was Phrasespot mentioned and assigns attributes to the product. However, this just enabled more quantity and messes up the inventory system.

Your response is greatly appreciated.
