isrd1
Hello, there was a thread about this in 2009 which, although it says 'solved' isn't. I'm getting the same issue: when wanting to change a module position the drop down lists that enable me to choose the hook and its location are greyed out. Looking at the html source they are disabled='disabled'. This is happening in all the browsers I have: FF version 7 and 8, Safari and Chrome. Is this a permissions issue on folders? Does anyone have any clues? It's a spanish site I'm developing but perhaps the following screenshot will be understandable nonetheless. Thanks, Rob
phrasespot
The whole thing is a bit misleading. Edit icon allows you to specify exceptions only, not changing the hook the module hooks (maybe it should be an exceptions icon w/o disabled drop downs). Try the transplant button instead. isrd1
Perhaps the screen shot being in Spanish made things unclear, but I was using transplant module. When I click on the pencil icon I'm taken to the series of drop-downs to allow me to transplant a module to a different hook, and it's those drop-down lists that are inactive. So, back to my question any thoughts as to why this is the case; I would have thought this is key functionality so something must be amiss. There is a separate transplant button near the top of the page, immediately below the tabs. Look at the screen capture (link) in my previous reply. isrd1
Ah, I thought that the transplant text was simply text identifying what the pencil icon for each module did, I didn't realise it was a link to the same set of lists as appear when you click on the pencil except not greyed out. Superb, thanks for your help. Unfortunately, and this should be a separate thread I guess, I was hoping to move the quick search module into the Top Horizontal Menu section (instead of the default search which appears there) but Top Horizontal Menu doesn't appear in the 'hook in' second list. The reason for wanting the move is that the normal search uses 'live search' whereas the default Top Menu search waits for a the user to hit enter. Again though, thanks for taking the time to answer. phrasespot
Ah, I thought... Yeah, I know. It is a gotcha I was hoping to move the quick search module into the Top Horizontal Menu section (instead of the default search which appears there) Are you using the new theme? there is not a top horizontal menu in 1.4 normal theme. normal search uses 'live search' whereas the default Top Menu search waits for a the user to hit enter. 'Live search' is termed 'ajax search' in PS and you can modify this behaviour in Back Office > Preferences > Search tab
isrd1
Yes, I am using the new theme. The ajax search isn't, I think, an option for the search that Top Horizontal Menu uses, only for the default search. So I'm using the default search and altering the box position via css so that it appears on the top horizontal menu. Less than ideal since I have to position absolutely whereas the top horiz menu search is a list item and more elegant for that.
phrasespot
Sorry, I don't know. I didn't look at the new theme too deeply. You could look at the default search and replicate the ajax parts on that other search box. I assume both searches would be using the same backend mechanism as I cannot see why it would be otherwise, then again, there are other parts in the code where the same functionality is dealt in multiple places in different ways, e.g. registration forms, so I would not be surprised. Or you may want to make a post with a relevant subject; someone may know.
