idoityourself
Hi I know there are lots of threads about this error "Link to database cannot be established." but they all seem to be unresolved or people have made changes before they got the error. Sites been fine, haven't made any changes for weeks, got up this morning and no access to front or back office. Any ideas? thanks
tomerg3
Most likely your database is down, contact your host and ask them to look into it. If you have access to PhpMyAdmin from your cPanel, you can check to see it that works...
idoityourself
Thanks, is there anything I can tell them to make them look into it more? By the time they get round to looking at the site its working again so they close my customer support ticket and say its resolved. Its just gone down again. I dont have phpmyadmin. tomerg3
You can ask them to enable the log for slow mysql queries, that may be show any slow queries that would overload the system. Other than that, I would consider switching hosts, a good host can be very hard to find, especially for a big/busy site...
