dparsleyuva
I setup my site and went live last week www.CavalierGifts.com using a PrestaShop free theme template that is hosted on iPage www.iPage.com. As I look around at other themes, I am not sure how I could test drive another template to add more features and better appearance than the one I started with. I don't want to switch and go "live" to see if/how the new theme would work. Can someone give me advice on what is possible and preferable so I don't screw this up? Thanks, David

dparsleyuva
Thanks, but how do I go about making a local backup and test in local? My Prestashop site is hosted in iPage.com. iPage has a Control Panel type of interface that I have to use to view any of the overall plumbing issues, other than the back-end tools I can use within Prestashop Admin. Thanks for any additional help.
shacker
you need to download all site to local, backup your database, and use wamp to install all in your PC. In the documentation of presta you have a guide to do this when you have all installed, the file that must be changed is config/settings.inc.php with the data of your local installation (dbname, user, pass, url, etc)
