[SOLVED] back office works front office shows blank page

i have the backoffice working but the front office is showing a blank page.

after reading other posts im thinking its a permission thing again but i dont know,

what folder or file to give permissions to.

 

im so close now

Can you edit \config\config.inc.php file and set 'display_errors', 'off' to 'display_errors', 'on' ?

 

This way you will be able to see any error messages on the front page.

so it's all to do with smarty_internal_template.php in sysplugins folder.

now do i give write permissions to the sysplugin folder or the smarty_internal_template.php?

 

and do you think doing that will fix it?

Have you followed the installation instructions and given the correct permissions to tools/smarty/compile and tools/smarty/cache as that seems to be where the errors are pointing to. Its nothing to do with the smarty_internal_write.php or the sysplugin folder.

There doesn't seem to be any permissions or owner/group settings for any file or folder over the whole of your server.

 

Is this an apache server or windows server you are using?

 

I think you should contact your host for some help with the permissions, if their good they will help you out.

this is what i thought to.

but i did edit permissions on the config folder so it could install the settings.inc.php

so i could get top this stage.

its a windows server this is why i choose presta shop because it says it works on windows server.

i think your right about asking my server provider to help with permissions.

Would i be asking them to give me full control over my permissions or just for them to set permissions for the cache and compile directory?

I think you should have full control of your permissions, otherwise everytime you do an upgrade of Prestashop you wil have to get them to set the correct permissions.

i contacted my sever provider and they said i have full control but i have to do it through rdp. So i connected through windows remote connectiong to my server . Then i found the cache and complie folder and went into the properties and change the permissions there. now my problem is it still dont work, so i am wondering if i have done it right or not.

also a thought crossed my mind would i have to give theese files permission before the install or does it not matter.

normally memory limit has 8M but that's not enough for prestashop...
