[Observation] shipping by total price 'and' by total weight.

Guys,

 

I have always understood that the default shipping module in prestashop can only be set up for either weight based or price based shipping, and not both. Although I don't remember how I came to have this understanding!

 

Having had this understanding I have repeated this in the advice I have given others in setting up shipping related posts. It has never been picked up on, or contradicted on by anyone on these forums.

 

It struck me that on the shipping tab you set up the Billing as according to total price or according to total weight.

Then when setting up a carrier there is another setting for Default behaviour, According to total price or According to total weight.

 

So why have this option if shipping is by total price or total weight and not both?

 

I felt a test coming on.

 

I decided the scenario would be that it would be better to charge shipping by total price for my home country zone but by total weight outside of my home country zone.

 

The result is: Yes you can use both methods.

 

So this opens up a whole new dimension to the possible shipping configurations with prestashop!!
