[SOLVED] Anyone using Prestashop for a larger store?

Recommended Posts

I just set up Prestashop for a smaller store with around 100 products. I absolutely love it! The look, the functionality, the ease...I could go on.

I would really like to use it for my other store with 2000 to 3000 products, but I'm hesitant to put all that work in and find out that it runs really slow. I'm seeing comments like that around the web. Would all the basic tweaks like using smaller images, cache, etc. allow this to work? If anyone is using Prestashop for a larger store, I'd love to hear comments. Thx.

Thanks, Mike. That's really great to hear. I clicked around a few of the stores and it seems like they do have a large number of products on them and load fast. I didn't want to spend a lot of time building a site and then finding out that I should have put it on something like magento (which I really didn't want to have to resort to). P-shop is amazing!

Dkjoomla,

Prestashop should be able to handle your volume easily, however your concern should be with hosting. I am assuming you will be on a dedicated server or a VPS at the very minimum.

In theory any well designed application should be able to handle your volume, however at those numbers, database space and bandwidth will be your primary concerns.

Also when choosing your theme, you want one which is does not have any (or too many) changes to the core code, and you want to use the latest stable build of prestashop

Good luck !!
