Free shipping - single product, not the whole basket

I'm searching for a solution for a very simple problem:

The shops offers gift certificates AND products. It makes no sence to take shipping costs for a gift certificate.

 

But when i make the certifacte shipping cost-free with the weight-attribute the whole basket is shipping free, and that is inacceptable.

 

Did anyone knows a solution for this problem? Thanks in advance.

Have you adjusted under BACKOFFICE > SHIPPING > WEIGHT RANGES ?

Maybe if you set the start value to 0.001 instead of 0.000

I have a similar free product, leather swatches, which we mail in envelopes, free, free shipping. If they like the leather, they'll order a custom made belt. Since my heaviest regular product is probably under 2 lbs., I set the leather swatches at 1000 lb, the trigger I set for free shipping.

 

Works perfectly.

I am having the same exact problem. Gift cards weight is 0 lbs, but shipping is $9-11 depending on choice of carrier. Now I know why no one has ordered any gift cards. ;o)

 

I tried your suggestion, preerp10, but there was no change.

 

I like your idea, rturner. But if they order the swatch along with another product, the whole order would then be free shipping. Right?

 

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
