Change 'default Category tree' to 'drop-down-list' at admin product page - back office.

What code do I need to modify to change the "default category tree" at the admin product page to a "drop-down-list." I really prefer the drop-down-list because it will make it easier for the employee to place a product on the appropriate category or subcategory group, A drop-down-list will eliminate the option of mistakenly or intentionally placing a product in multiple categories and subcategories.

 

If this is possible, please help me out. Thanks in advance.
