Having a lot of trouble editing the CONTACT FORM

I can't seem to find any other relevant threads on this subject which is really surprising to me.

 

A.) I need to add additional form fields to the v1.4 prestashop new theme contact form. I edited the TPL file and successfully added 3 new texareas for first and last names and phone number. The problem that I'm having is that

1.) It doesn't require user to input anything.

2.) Even if the user does input somethiing it doesn't show up on the message.

 

What am I forgetting to do?

 

 

B.) I don't know how in this world of spam overload that we live in, so many prestashop users are using the stock form with no captcha device whatsoever. I have a well indexed site and the contact form got so much spam. Adding a google recaptcha put an end to that 100%. I know there was a post about adding this recaptcha to the contact form however it is not compatible with 1.4 and there is also a couple of free modules, another for google recaptcha and one for a sliding iphone lock thingy, also not compatible with 1.4.

 

Has anyone managed to find or develop a solution for this? Any solution at all?
