3D Secure

Hi

Just wondered how you are all getting on with the 3D secure system that credit card companies are rolling out?

Seems a great idea to prevent fraud where as part of the payment process, the buyer is taken to a security window to insert their PIN or parts of their password. This is totally run by the credit card company I believe and is not something we have control over

Except - we have now had a few people who have business credit cards. When they get to this part of the process they do not know the password / PIN

We then lose the sale

I know the companies have to get themselves sorted, but in the meantime we are losing sales. Presumably they then try a different site until they find one where 3D secure is not enabled

We are using Skrill / Moneybookers and it is enabled there (Not sure about PayPal - anyone know if PayPal has 3d secure enabled)?

In this case where the user doesn't know the password then that is out of your control, if you had a merchant account then you would be able to allow payments that fail the 3d secure but then your taking extra risk for accept these types of payment. 3D secure is used by most onlines payments and is mandatory for some types of cards.

No paypal does not enable 3d secure as they attempt to verify your account when you sign up with them.

Thanks, that is useful to know - but is that just if they have a PayPal account? Presumably if they simply want to use PayPal to pay by credit card it would do a check?
