How do I transfer my PS site to a new hosting provider?

Hi,

 

My client has just hit me with a curve ball... I have created a PrestaShop Store, which is hosted on my Host Gator account. But I have been asked to transfer both the domain name and the PrestaShop Store to a new hosting account with UK2.NET.

 

I have no issues with transferring the domain name etc. as this is all very straightforward. However, I have a feeling that moving the PrestaShop Store and mySQL database will be quite difficult.

 

I would be very grateful for any any assistance with this.

Hi

It is not difficult, here is some quick info.

 

*Backup your whole current FTP files and Database

*Fix with the domain, should you use the same registrar, or just change your nameservers from hostgator?

*When domain issue is fixed, create a database at the new host, e.g name db as the same as you had on the old host

*Upload ftp

*If you had changed the database prefix, edit settings.inc.php in folder /config in presta root

I just tried to move my shop today.

I think I followed the guide here but it's not working...

When I access the front office I get an error message from cpanel/apache

When I try to access the admin folder, I get this message "The database selection cannot be made."

 

Any idea?

EDIT: never mind, I simply forgot to add a new user for the new database^^ everything working now
