My web page is too slow

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody.

My problem is, that my web page is very slow. What should I do? Can help me, when I change my theme?! And if I have to change my theme, how can I try the speed of the web page before I buy it?

My web page is here: www.hraciakocka.sk

Thanks for answers.

Hi rzeznik,

In your Back Office under Preferences > Performance, can you please check to see if you have Force Compile enabled?

There lots of ways to speed up your Prestashop website, including:

1. back-office>preferences>performance. Set force compile to false/off and cache to true/on.

2. Also on the same tab turn all the CCC options to on.

3. Remove unwanted modules from the server.

4. Use images/sprites that are smaller in size (not dimensions).

5. Enable Gzip Compression and browser caching.

6. Change the ciphering to Rijindael instead of Blowfish.

Hi rzeznik,

As jhnstcks posted, if you've done everything above and you're still having issues, it may be a good idea to consider other hosting providers. I'm surprised that once you disabled Force Compile your site continued to be slow, because that change alone should've made a noticeable difference.

Force Compile is great for testing and debugging your shop because it forces your browser to load the entire site from scratch every time instead of speeding it up using cached versions (the same reason why websites you visit regularly may load faster than new ones), but there should be a pretty obvious difference in speed between using Force Compile and not using it.
