Shop creation on WAMP - database transfer

Hi,

 

Is it possible to create a shop as I describe it bellow?

• Install 1.4.5 release on a local server (WAMP).
  

• Add all the products you want to have in your store including prices.
  

• When finished back up your database.
  

• Later install newer version local, such us the coming 1.5 and transfer there the backed up database from the previous version.
  

• Finally upload it on web.

If the version 1.5 will remain the same DB structure - yes.

In any case, I think, the developers will provide opportunities to update

So, what do you suggest. Shall I start adding products or wait the newest version.

You need sales or new version? The new version can get a month, maybe six months,if you're willing to wait ...

Yes you can do this.

It's easier with deafult themes and gets harder to upgrade with customized themes.

You CANNOT transfer the database between versions, not directly at least.

 

The proper way is to use the 1.5 (or any new version) installer to upgrade the shop.

 

In general, my advice is not to upgrade your shop, unless there is a really good reason to do so (IE important security fix, or a new functionality that you absolutely must have).
