daze99
I have v1.4.5.1 installed and so far I love it. The only problem I'm having now is for collecting taxes in my state (California). The default tax for California is set for 8.25%, but when I add a $55 item it says the tax is $0.61. The billing and shipping address is in California, so it should be collecting $4.54 in tax.... not 61 cents. The math doesn't add up. Another issue is that I have it set so that shipping is free for orders $60 and up, yet once the cart is at $60 (or higher), no tax is collected at all. What am I missing? If anyone would like to see the site to check the problem for yourself, please PM me for the link (I'd prefer not to make it public). I appreciate any and all help! Mike Kranzler
Hi daze, Please PM me with your Back Office login details (username, password and admin URL) and I will try to take a look at this for you. -Mike
Mike Kranzler
Hi Daze, I took a look at this for you, and it appears that you did not have a tax rate set for your individual products. I enabled it for one of your products, as you can see below: Is that what you are looking for? -Mike
daze99
That looks like what I was looking for! I didn't even notice that setting on each catalog item. Thank you for your help!
Mike Kranzler
I'm glad I could help! I'll go ahead and mark this as solved for you. -Mike
daze99
Mike, I just noticed that it's taxing the item + the shipping cost. In that screenshot, it shows the item is $55, but the tax is 8.75% of $62 (the cost of the item + shipping). Shipping shouldn't be taxed.
Mike Kranzler
Hi daze, In your Back Office under Shipping > Carriers, you can disable tax on shipping for each individual option. Please let me know if that resolves your issue. -Mike

norseman
I had posted this in another thread here... I am having issues with the tax adding to the product cost and bumping the free shipping into play. So therefore if my free shipping is at 50$, then ONLY the product cost should be associated with this, NOT the shipping OR tax, however I have been thru the forum here, and still cannot locate a correct fix for the tax issue. I have managed to resolve the shipping addition. I am using 1.4.4.1. Thanks for your time.
Mike Kranzler
Hi norseman, I was unable to replicate this issue on a clean test site. Could you please post your URL and give me the steps to follow in order to replicate your problem? -Mike
norseman
Hi Mike, I have PMed you a UID and PW for the site, and one for the BO, as it isnt live yet. How to replicate the error... Currently my free shipping is 50$ in Ontario. Your UID is set up to be from Ontario. 1. Log into FO. 2. Add Bath Soak - Enamel Tin to your cart 3. Click Checkout 4. You will notice that you see the Remaining amount to be added to your cart in order to obtain free shipping: is correctly being calculated now (thanks to other tips in the forum) 5. Increase the items until your $$ amt hits $47.97. You will notice that the Shipping amt disappears, and the cart shipping is reset to $0, however the Remaining amount to be added to your cart in order to obtain free shipping: STILL says $2.03 to get free shipping (which is CORRECT), so therefore somewhere in the system, the shipping is STILL calculated to be incl tax rather than excl. Thx for your assistance on this matter.
Mike Kranzler
Hi norseman, Any chance you could give me the exact items to add in order to reach $47.97? I'm not familiar with all your products and it could take me some time to find the right combination, which could otherwise be spent helping other users with their issues as well. -Mike

I'm not familiar with all your products and it could take me some time to find the right combination, which could otherwise be spent helping other users with their issues as well. -Mike 2. Add Bath Soak - Enamel Tin to your cart <- first dropdown list for bath and body, first item in dropdown list... its 15.99 Thanks.
Mike Kranzler
2. Add Bath Soak - Enamel Tin to your cart <- first dropdown list for bath and body, first item in dropdown list... its 15.99 Thanks. I did that, but you then ask for me to increase the amount in the cart up until a very specific price. What other specific items would you like for me to add in order to replicate this error? -Mike
norseman
Hi Mike, just keep increasing the quantity in the cart, it will eventually hit 47.97, and when it does, shipping will 0 out, but you will notice that the actual 'free shipping' check is correct, it still says 2.03 is remaining for free shipping. norseman
Any movement on this? Thanks.
Mike Kranzler
Hi norseman, As I mentioned, you have multiple different price points. If you would like for me to look into this, please just give me the products to add in order to specifically reach $47.97. This forum has nearly 300,000 members who I must be available to help, so I would really appreciate it if you would simplify things for me by just providing the exact items necessary to replicate this error so that I can help you out. Once you give me those specific items I will be happy to look into this for you. -Mike
norseman
Hi Mike, My apologies. Please add Bath Soak - Enamel Tin to your cart, which is the first dropdown list for bath and body, first item in dropdown list... its 15.99, after that, click on Checkout in your cart, and you will come to the checkout page, in the checkout page, simply increase the amt of this ONE item in your cart using the +/- buttons. When you increase the amt of this item in your cart to 3, which will equal 49.97, the shipping zeros out, whereas it SHOULDNT as the cart cost - shipping - taxes < 50$. This holds true, because the free shipping calculator is STILL active, saying you need to have 2.03$ more to get free shipping. I trust this is specific enough? I can add screenshots from my perspective if this is of help? Let me know please. Thanks for your time.
norseman
OK, I guess I wasnt that clear? I have been in discussion with another member here, and may have found the answer... I will run some tests and see what gives.
norseman
OK, I have figured it out with the help of another wonderful member. (Kudos to Dave L) THANK GOD FOR DAVE L AND GREP!!!!! In 1.4.4.1, there are different REVISIONS of files. The cart.php file Dave sent me was Revision: 9142, the file I was using was Revision: 7713. It seems it was a possible bug that was revised in betwix 7713 and 9142, but no new edition was created, therefore I just tweaked the new revision file with my own flavor, and the world is right again!!! At least with THIS bug...
