invicsa
Hello, I just started a prestahop. As for now I am looking for a userfriendly module that allows me to upload my list of 1133 different products, assign them to the correct category and subcategory and link them automatically with the correct image in the image folder. Could someone inform me where I can obtain such a module or someone who could help me out on this issue. I have been looking for addons and inside the forum, but I can't seem to find this extact information... Kind regards, Quincy
Carl Favre
Hi invicsa, In tools tab, import menu, you can import csv files containing all your products. You even have csv examples for each type of import (only in 1.4.5.1 if I am correct). Have you tried this tool ?
invicsa
Hey Carl, I've did a few tests, however I am a bit stuck on the categories. The excel-list contains products that need to be imported to a category, but I also have products that need to be imported directly to the correct subcategory. It's not clear to me how you can implement this in the csv-document...
Carl Favre
I have attached a product import csv example file. It should be easier to understand how it works this way . Just unzip it. products_import.zip
invicsa
Hey Carl, This looks indeed like the solution, do I have to create the categories first manually or will they be created automatically? As for the image url, do I have to use always http://youdomain.com/img25.jpg or can i just put img25.jpg as reference? Does it also work with version 1.4.4.1? Thx, Q
phantomeye
Hi Invicsa, You need to create the categories first. You can import all your categories too via the import tool. Just ensure you copy all the id numbers correctly for your import of the products. I have imported over 18,000 products using this tool. Here is a link to some good research Some important things to remember: 1) Always do a test run with 1 or 2 products first, then do your final run 2) If you are on a shared hosting plan, import only 60 products with images at a time. (or you will have a time out issue) 3) If you are on a better hosting plan like VPS etc, you can import upto 300 products with images at a time 4) If importing products and images, always use ftp to transfer the csv file, rathen than upload via the import tab 5) Remember to change the field settings to , from ; (comma from semi-colon) when using a csv file 6) When including images in your import, i recommend uploading all the images first to the server to a new folder. Include the full url eg: http://www.yourdomain.com/newfolder/image1.jpg 7) Prestashop is your friend ;-) Have fun and keep a beer handy!
