gennybeans
Hi, I hope this is in the right forum... So I've been searching for a couple hours now, and haven't been able to find an exact solution to what I want to do. I wanted to know if it is possible, or if there is an existing module (for 1.4) that allows customers to shop by colour and/or size? Ideally, I'd like the options to go in the left column, underneath the Categories block (as I have changed the header to Shop by Category). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Mike Kranzler
Hi gennybeans, Have you already tried using the Attributes and Groups functionality in your Back Office? -Mike
gennybeans
Hi gennybeans, Have you already tried using the Attributes and Groups functionality in your Back Office? -Mike Hi Mike, Thank you for the quick response. I have Attribute Groups and Attributes set up. For example, I have a shirt that is sized S-L, and has colours Black and White. I want to give customers the option of, instead of seeing the entire product list for all shirts, I want them to be able to click "Sort by Color", then select a color, for example Black, then have all the black shirts listed. Does anywhere in the BO offer this? I imagine it would require a module or some mod in the code, but maybe I'm wrong?
Mike Kranzler
Hi gennybeans, What version of PrestaShop are you using? With our newest release, 1.4.5, we have released an overhauled Layered Navigation Module that may be just what you're looking for... -Mike
gennybeans
Oh! Alright, I'll see if I can upgrade now (I'm currently at 1.4.4). I'm running it locally, but I want to make sure my Matrice theme will update properly. Thank you!

gennybeans
Hi Mike, So I have upgraded, and seem to have run into an error. I was trying to place items into their respective (sub-)categories when I get an error: An error occurred while linking object. product To categories Therefore, nothing is showing up with my Layered Navigation module. Mike Kranzler
Can you provide a screenshot with this error message? -Mike
gennybeans
So, it seems that it was a browser cache issue. I have that fixed. Except my layered navigation block still isn't appearing on the front-end (even after enabling the module, and creating multiple templates). I've attached a screenshot of the BO of the module. gennybeans
Hi Mike, I'm actually working on it locally. It is not uploaded or live yet. =/ Any other way around that?
Mike Kranzler
Hi gennybeans, Can you please check the Module positions in your back office to see where the layered navigation block is currently hooked on your site? -Mike
gennybeans
It is currently hooked to the Left Column, Header of Pages and Footer. Note: Before checking the hooks, I had no clue it was hooked to so many parts of the page. I only want it in the Left Column. Edit: I also want to point out that when I run the Live Edit, the block appears (in the left column) but is empty. Edit pt. 2: My, my! It seems like it has appeared! It shows up once I click on one of the categories. Is it possible for it to appear on the front page as well? Maybe placing it in another hook? I had removed it from the Header of Pages and Footer hooks. It didn't seem to mess it up.
Mike Kranzler
Hi gennybeans, This may seem stupid, but in your Back Office, please go to Modules and set the dropdown menus to show "Installed Modules" and "Enabled & Disabled." Once you've done that, please look for the Layered Navigation module and check to see if it is currently enabled. I suggest this because I just did a clean install of the 1.5 theme to test this for you, and it is actually NOT enabled by default, even if you are able to edit the module. Please let me know if that works for you! -Mike
gennybeans
Hi Mike! Thank you. I ended up editing my last post. It actually started to work, but still does not show on the main page. I'm beginning to realize that it isn't that big of a deal, even though it would be nice. I couldn't seem to hook the Layered Navigation to anything else, so I guess I will have to stick with what I've got. Thank you so much for all your help! It's been greatly appreciated. Mike Kranzler
Hi gennybeans, I'm glad you were able to get this working! Depending on the type of products you are selling, having it appear on the front page may not even be a good idea anyway. Happy selling! -Mike
