tijn
Hi all, Does anyone have any expience with large sitemaps? I am having a problem with a sitemap that is way to big for Bing or Google. I am currently hosted on Prestabox and using their module to generate a sitemap. This module generates 80 MB file and there is no way to divide the and nothing to generate a sitemap index file. I have reported this problem already to Prestabox support but ith no succes until now. A solution would be greatly appreciated as this prevents me from submitting a sitemap to Google or Bing
cedricfontaine
In fact, you should modify the gsitemap.php to cut in slice the generated content. If you don 't know how to do, just contact me.
tijn
Well, that is just the problem, when you're hosted on Prestabox you have no access to these files. I think the only solution is to find another sitemap module (which I have not found yet) and that is not easy because you are only allowed to install modules that are available through Prestastore. cedricfontaine
I found this one, but it's expensive http://addons.prestashop.com/en/seo/3360-advancedgooglexmlsitemap.html
tijn
Well, I bought this module and it's not working, it immediately closes down when you start generating a sitemap. I'am starting to think that many problems are related to being hosted by PrestaBox. They lag behind with updating to new releases in which bugs are fixed and there support is almost non existant. Support request are not answered, when you call them they promise to answer next day, nope nothing! Some examples: I still cannot add features to products in languages other than English I have approximately 9000 products in two languages their sitemap manages to produce a sitemap of over 87 mB with 197181 entries I cannot upload documents If you then have a look at the bugtracker you often see that problems are solved but I have the impression that they are not implemented in PrestaBox I quote what is on their website 'PrestaBox brings you the best technology, and thus allows you to enjoy unlimited storage space in order to expand your business without any constraints. Whatever may be the number of articles or products, clients, or photos, PrestaBox will manage them perfectly, without any storage limit to worry about.' The advantage of PrestaBox is you effectively start in 10 minutes: everything is preconfigured and that's what it is. Afterwards you see the severe limitations and the lack of support. My humble advice is stay away from Prestabox if you want to build a professional medium sized webshop
