Google Base feeds help / suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have recently installed the ecartservice.net google base module which (according to threads that I had read on this forum) is supposed to support prestashop's combinations, but it is not. I am unsure if this addon is even being developed because I had sent two emails to the developer via his website and received no response.

So my question is.. Does anyone know if there are updates for this module that include the ability to display combinations as products?

I also had noticed another issue regarding the UPC. I have the feed set to use the UPC field in prestashop as the manufacturer part number but it is not registering it properly and instead just shows 00000000 which means I can not measure performance.

If there has been no movement on this module, I am open to suggestions for other modules (paid for free) that fully support google base and prestashop out of the box

Hi, I too use this module it was made a few years ago and I am not sure if any recent updates to the module have been made, the only way combination would show as a product is if you made a product with those combinations then when googe base module creates the feed it would show as a product. also google base feed has changed a few times since 2009 i think thats when the free module was made so it doesn't create all the correct tags google now wants us to have when submitting a feed, the module creates the basic tags such as ID, price, description, but tags like Brand, availability, and I think UPC need to be manually added to the feed file. Well thats what I am doing anyways to get around all the errors google is telling me I have with the feed xml fie.

I am having the same problem. Even with the most updated version: [bETA]Google Base Feed Products v0.7.3.5 by eCartService.net.

After adding tons of UPCs and MPNs (in the Supplier Reference field as instructed) they are still not being accepted by Google. The UPCs seemto be reported as 0000000 so all my products have been suspended from Google. Anyone know how to fix this?

The module works! The issue is that when you take your feed file that the module generates and upload it to google feed, google says that it has errors such as the ones i listed above.

My products were also suspended from google, however they do let you fix it and change the isues with the feed. Still in the process of doing this I'll let you know how it turns out.

Philee- what country are you in?

The module is also putting 000000000000 for GTIN for items that have a EAN13 rather then a UPC. Most of the products I am selling use UPC, some do not have any (which I am listing the Manufacturer and MPN) and some use EAN13. I use a lot of combinations. How do I get this module to work for me?

You don't need EAN or MPC , just the google_product_category which is something you will need to do manually. Convert the XML file to CSV then edit using excel and insert the categories and remove any data you don't need. I made some changes to this Module so the XML feed picks up the reference field and weight.

The module has the option to set to use MPN in stead of UPC or EAN and the supplier Refrance is placed as the MPN however yesterday I spent a few hours trying to see what the issue is and this is what I found out, I don't have any UPC or EAN I only use MPN in my settings, I have downloadable products and shipped items. For some reason with the shipped products it generated the MPN number for most however it left out the BRAND and CONDITION tags for shipped items and the download items it created the brad and never the condition tag and on some of the downloads items it made the MPN even if the setting on the product page is already set to NEW I still had to pretend to select it again in order for it to generate in the module.

In the end I just aded what i needed manually it was easy google provides tag examples for you to copy and paste in each product that is missing an tag its a pain in the neck but it works now.

My products are always changing as sometimes we just have one of something. Manually changing each one will be way too time consuming to do every week since every time I generate a new one it will put those 0's in. There has to be some sort of fix for this module.

Actually, something else i didn't add was all of my products that i generated attributes for didn't come out at all, I forgot to write that in my last post, they only had the very basic no MPN, BRAND, AVIL., or CONDITION this could be the issue with the module I don't know! Either the ecartservice buy works on it or someone builds a new version of the module.

Isn't the EAN code only for out of the US and UPC is for the US?

Yes usually EAN is for outside the US but some of the products I sell are manufactured outside the US and sold worldwide. So they did not purchase UPCs but EAN instead. So i have some products with UPCs, some with EANs, and some with neither (manufacturer and product id). Does anyone know of another module that can handle this?

I have been working on a modified version of the GoogleBase module based on Paul's code.I have added a lot of features but have not had time to complete it. I will try to finish up the features I've added and post the module in this thread.

See this thread for more info on the features:

That would be great if you could fix these issues! There is no way I could possibly go through and fix all the entries every time I add some products. I am certainly loosing money not being listed by google. Basically the problems I am having are:

1.) The module is entering identifiers as "000000000000" for any product with a combinations that have different identifiers.

2.) The module will only allow me to choose between UPC or EAN13 and not use which ever is available.

Thanks!

Seems I'm having a similar problem (but as of yet, know one seems to be able to identify a resolution!): http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/108868-missing-unique-product-identifiers-google/page__fromsearch__1

I'm looking forward to seeing the progress MrBaseball has made with his issues - I didn't really appreciate before the complexity of submitting to Google Base!

I'm sadly experiencing another issue - "Missing recommended attribute: google product category (99 warnings)", is anyone else experiencing this?

Hello guys,

i updated to 0.7.3.5 version of feed and i have problem with prices.

I use basic price and then discount price.

In feed i see both of them

<g:price>2600.00 USD</g:price>

<g:sale_price>1779.00 USD</g:sale_price>

Problem is i need to submit products at sale price which is definitely lower. My discount prices worked in previous versions but not anymore. This problem causing i am too expensive on google shopping.

Any suggestion?

@Boomer

Seems like the module isn't generating a lot of things it should be however it does generate most tags needed. I had to manually add tags to the xml file before submitting it to google especially for products that had different attributes such as yours. My solution till a new version comes out was to manually add or in your case subtract what you need. In other words you will have to open the generated xml file and delete the code portion you don't want but you may need it (PRICE) because google may flag your submitted file as bad because (price) is a mandatory tag for them.

I noticed that ecartservice.nets module (as good as it is) does not allow for all the fields for google product feed. I have an idea for a workaround if someone can help..

Anyone able to tell me how to map a custom feature to a googlebase field?

i.e. if i create a custom feature called 'colour' what line of code would i add to the ecartservice.net module in order to map it to googles colour attribute? This would enable me (and the rest of us) to add the rest of googlebases required fields manually..
