Send tracking number details to customers?

Is there a way of doing this? Although we use FedEx, we are doing it manually not using any API

So, I can see in the BO i can change the status to shipped - I kind of expected a pop up then to allow me to enter the tracking number, but no

The email send to the customer simply says they will get an email soon with the tracking details - how do I do that?

Every carrier that you define has a field where you can add the URL that will be used to send the tracking info to your customer. And the tracking code is dynamically generated with the tracking nr in it. See BO > Shipping > Carriers > Your accier > Tracking URL

Thanks - I assume though that it can only get the tracking code if we are using carrier API? Although we use FedEx, we don';t use the API, we have a standard rate that we charge. We get the tracking code when we process the shipping externally from prestashop

I have created a customer message that we send and we manually added the tracking number

Hi

I just enter the web url of the tracking page with the @ symbol at the end. And for the tracking number i add a # before the number in the orders page. That is enough for it to work. You need to click on shipped option once which sends the first email, then you will see a box under orders tab to enter the tracking number , then you click on 'shipped' option again and it sends the url to the customer. Iam using TNT.

After you add the tracking URL to the Fedex carrier and save, it will create a new carrier (and keep the old on intact).

This means that only new orders will have the option to add the tracking number once you set the order to shipped.

If you want to avoid the double emails, you can edit the "Shipped" order status and set it to not send an email.

You are correct, i just tried and it works. When we enter the number and click on 'set tracking number' it did send an email without any subject .How can i edit the subject to say , for example ' your order has been shipped' ?

Somewhere in mail templates maybe.

The email does have a subject for me: [Graphskill Ltd] Package in transit

I have been away, and just returned to see all this help - thanks all for helping sort this out!

That will depend on the courier you use, and the country. Have a look on their website and see where it says add tracking code here

For example FedEx Uk is

http://www.fedexuk.net/accounts/QuickTrack.aspx?consignment=

Wherever it says "enter your tracking number" dont put one in, then track. It will come up with an error, but as you can see from the link above it says "consignment=" the prestashop puts the number you enter into the BO order there so it will work

It is a while since I did this, i think this is correct.

I don't use USPS, but for Fedex I went to their site. Clicked on tracking, enter a number (any) the submitted the form. I used the URL of the next page that appeared, but changed the number for @

HI friends,

I'm using stamps pro to print the labels. When i print a label the tracking number is not updated in the webstore. The stamps.com doc says

"Stamps.com will automatically post back to your web store and shopping cart account information data like tracking number and shipping cost. This allows you to easily let your customers know that an order has shipped."

All i want to know is how can i insert the tracking number in my webstore after i print the label frm the stamps pro software automatically

Hello

I think maybe what Haylau ment was, is there a way to enter the tracking number manually ?

NOT as an URL.

As we often do here in Norway is that we use special packet labels with a tracking number on already, both in numbers and bar code.

How can I get this information to my customer in the best way ?

Petter

I think you have to add it manually. Looking at stamps.com the only shopping carts it integrates with are:

Shopping Carts
  • ChannelAdvisor
  • Ecwid
  • Magento
  • osCommerce
  • ProStores
  • Volusion
  • Zen Cart

Hello Everyone,

For the people who was asking about stamps.com, we are not sure if there is anyone still interested in a Stamps.com integration module, however, we have just released a module that enables you to generate Stamps.com shipping labels directly from your order's page (tracking information is sent to customer after label generation).

Thank you,
