Image upload problem with 1.4.4.1

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am trying to upload images for my products. After the product description, I click the image button and scroll to image directory. I select my image (JPG) and click okay. Prestashop just hangs and the image does not get uploaded. I went to image settings, set JPG to 100 and PNG to 0 like some have suggested. I still have the same problem. My image does not get uploaded. Any ideas?

I am also having this problem today using 1.4.4.0 on an existing store.

I am manually adding a product. When I get to the image tab, I choose my image to upload, click save & stay, and it takes me to this:

Back Office separator_breadcrum.png Catalog

with a blank page. Tried several times & it just will not let me add an image.

I have never had this problem in the past. Just started for me today.

My file permission have not been changed since I last uploaded images, and the file extension is .jpg.

Thanks in advance,

Kathleen

Some servers, including my own, will not work with 755. I have to use 777.

It is also clearly mentioned in all prestashop documentation HERE for example

Giving them "write permission" is called "doing a CHMOD 755" or "a CHMOD 775", depending on the host.

Why not try it as suggested and if it doesn't work you can change them back.

Never had issues with 755 before.

I just noticed your quote says 755 or 775, NOT 777.

From the page you quoted :

Some hosts might require you to use CHMOD 777, although it is not recommended for anything more than a one-time need.

If you have to use CHMOD 777 in order to install PrestaShop, make sure to switch to a safer setting (775, 755 or even 644) once you are done installing.

I've never had issues with permissions before & I don't think I'll be changing anything to 777, even if it's for just a bit.

My mistake. I meant to quote from HERE

Note: On many newer servers, 755 permissions will suffice and 777 will not work (as it’s less secure), however, if you experience trouble when using 755, try to change to 777.

Then why ask for advice! Just trying to be helpful but anyhow, please yourself.
