Addthis.com - How to use this service on my website?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would like to insert this service to my website. Can you please help where should I add this code ? Which file and line?

I think it would be great to place it under the long description part on the product page.

Thank you in advance !!!

1- If your installation is compatible, first download and install this module, Disclosure: the module is built by me

2- Visit addthis.com, select desired style/configuration and get the code.

3- Go to back office > Modules > Front office Featured > Multi Block Arbitrary Text Or HTML > Configuration

4- Choose the desired location (Product Footer and Product Actions in the example below) paste the code, save.

5- End result will be similar to image below (depending on the location you have chosen in the module)

You may need to make small modifications to the code from addthis to place it exactly as you want. Ask if you need help.

heh.. one place not already hooked and you wanted to hook there :) no worries. I just added that location to module's capabilities.

If you have already download and installed the module first uninstall and then delete it. Download the latest version (1.1.7) and install. Go to configuration, select "Content of tabs on product page" from the drop down field and paste the code you got from addthis into the text area and save.

The end result will be similar to to following image. Ask if you need clarification.

I am afraid no, not below and outside of the tab content.

If you look at the "Usage" section of the module configuration, there are links to screenshots showing every available position the module is able to insert the snippet and the hook that needs to be used for that position (they are also linked from the forum thread). Download it and experiment.

You are also able to further customize the snippet you get from addthis, for example change background-color to match the background of long description.
