[Solved] No Box for STATE

Recommended Posts

Hello friends,

On our shop, there is provision [box] to insert Country but no box for state. This is creating problem for payment processing with Paypal.

Our customers are getting error like "Unable to process payment. Please contact the merchant as the shipping address provided by the merchant is invalid, and the merchant has requested that your order must be shipped to that address."

We have taken up issue to Paypal but any expert knows solution or anyone had faced similar problem?

Hi MIKE,

We tried ur solution but it didnt fix the problem. It is showing box for State but below error we are getting,

  1. id_state is invalid

Surprisingly after inserting state, the box is getting displayed above country. Any other solution?

Could you also please replace your authentication.php file? Looking in Firebug, it appears that the field countriesNeedIDNumber is not defined, so hopefully replacing it with the latest version should solve this for you. If it doesn't, please let me know and I'll try to sit down with a developer to get this taken care of.

I am having the same problem. What files do I need to change, exactly and where can I get updated ones? This is causing orders to fail.

id_state required error

Hi Mike, I've now got this error on my new store at oriflame-gb.com.

I get the error when I try to add an address to an existing customer, or when I try to create a new customer.

I've downloaded the SVN versions via tortoise, copied the order-opc-new-account.tpl, authentication.tpl (both to public_html/themes/prestashop), and copied the authentication.php to public_html/admin.

I've refreshed my site - and no change. id_state is required.

I'm using presta 1.4.4.1

In the back office, customers/addresses, I selected id_state as a required field - and I suspect that's what caused this error. It was fine before (we created my [spam-filter]'s account fine earlier today).

Any help - greatly appreciated. (I'm based in the UK), and only discovered Presta less than a week ago.

Hi Geth,

I just tested this out on my system and had no issues creating an account. Have you cleared your browser's cache since replacing the original files with SVN versions?

-Mike

Not just browser cache but also prestashop cache in preferences/performance turn force compile on and cache to off for debugging purposes. (You can change it back later when the shop is live)

Also have you checked that your country is actually set to have states, and that states are in the database and are linked to the country, as by default only a few countries have state values set. (i know UK doesnt have any by default).

Similar thing for me, I've been chasing my tail trying to figure out why the 'country' dropdown does not populate, and realized that there is no 'state' field at all on the customer registration.

Replaced the authentication file, no change.

1.4.5.1, Prestashop new theme

Handcraft,

In motoxflyr's case, he confirmed that it was an issue on his end. His full quote on our bug report for this issue:

Found that in my case it is not a bug. Since I had no active carriers set up yet, and the shipping pref was set to restrict to countries covered by active carriers, no countries displayed. Without countries, no state displayed.

But if this does not resolve your store's specific issue, please do not hesitate to go to the link I posted above and provide your input for our development team, they would like more information from other users about whether or not motoxflyr's issue was the same as yours before they consider closing this. They're waiting for your input so the sooner you respond, the sooner we can help you get this resolved!
