This is from the system requirements on the download page:

  • - Linux, Unix, or Windows
  • - Web Server (Apache 1.3 or later, IIS 6 or later)
  • - PHP 5.0* or later
  • - MySQL 5 or later

* Some PHP 5 versions are bugged and prevent PrestaShop from working correctly:

  • - PHP < 5.2 (invalid date timezone)

Hi

Recently i installed prestashop 1.4.5.1 and now the new update has been released... I am a little bit confused since this is the first time i am using prestashop. DO i have to update it or is 1.4.5.1 good enough to launch the website? i read the bug file and it says some bug fixes for paypal... so if i use 1.4.5.1 is it safe to use paypal or does it mean i am going to have some problems with payments?

and yes what is the best PHP vesion for the hosting to run prestashop properly?

Thanks

Hi cankart,

If your shop isn't live yet then this is a good opportunity to update since you will be running the latest stable version. We are running a few 1.4.5.1 sites and the owners haven't reported any issues but an upgrade has been scheduled.

Regarding PHP, 5.3.8 is my recommendation.

Regards,

George
