plan to install new

Recommended Posts

hi

after a frustrating try to move a working shop from one webhoster to an other, i consider to reinstall and start all over again.

before i do this, i want to ask :

- is it possible to redirect the mysql to the existing database (the original/old one), and...

- is this a way to update the 'new' shop with my products?

thx in advance

Moving prestashop to a new host shouldn't be that problematic. What exactly is causing the problem for you?

Does the old host and the new host operate on the same management system like cpanel, Plesk etc.

Is it a large site with a big database?

What version of prestashop are you using? (it may be a good opportunity to upgrade to the latest version as part of the move.

When you go into phpadmin is your database definately located at 'localhost'. quite often it can be a fully qualified domain e.g. mine is something

Does that username pvlrtyjh_user1 actually have any privileges to anything on that database?

To answer your initial question - if you still have access to the old site (as in full Prestashop Backend access) you could use the Tools > DB Backup section or if that doesn't work then go into phpmyadmin and export the WHOLE database as a .sql file and reimport into a newly created database on the new server. There may be some niggles as yo do this but they can be sorted.
