Search got some problems?

Recommended Posts

First of all, im new here and im doing some testing on your demo shop.

Presta sure look fine at first sight. Great job dev. team.

Iw found some "search" problems...

If you search for macbook you will find it but if your search dont start with first letter of the word it wont find it!?
If you type acbook or cbook or book nothing will be found!?

Is this something that will be fixed? can i rely on presta or to look for other shops?

thanx.

Yes i see, not much official feedback on this matter. :(

Maybe its sopose to work like that?

The search query is passed as a string and then that string is searched for.

Since we are using Smarty, the string what you type in the search will be taken and passed to check with the products fields.

For such a query as you are asking, then
*Query*

should be passed and I am still not sure how one can do that in Smarty.

I have checked couple of Smarty forums and read the documentation, but all in vain.

Will update as soon as I find something which can be applied..

Cheers..

Thanx for this info.

I must say that i am amaised that noone finds this as a problem.
Every shopowner shud care that customer will find what is looking for, wich is not a case as it is now, no?

This i find to be a major issue but if it can be fixed that is a good news.

Looking forward for some solutions.

I'm currently re-coding the search from scratch, a real one with indexation and a lot of parameters taken into account (attributes, features, tags...)

You are the man Damien.

We all have seen Prestashop's great job..

I am sure this is gonna be a blast..

Cheers..

Hi,
great thing Damien.
I did myself modifications so as to get the expected results for my shop.
Waiting for Damien's modifications, you can use the following Search.php file to copy in /classes/ and please let us know if you get better results or not, tell what are the limitations/problems so as to improve again this fonction.
See ya.

Yep Damien Metzger did a really good job.
You can get it from CVS.
He also added ajax search in back office and all.

What do you mean by CVS?

Do you mean the SVN version? I have tried to use the new search in the SVN version but it does not work, gives an error, just copied it straight into the old 1.1 Prestashop version though. Is there a version that searchs tags yet?
