Shipping Options

Recommended Posts

Well, I've read every forum topic I can't find about Shipping and set up, still no wiser so I'll ask here hoping someone has managed to do what I'm trying to achieve.

We have products on our site that we deliver ourselves, we charge on a mileage basis, the further away you are the more we charge. My questions are :

Is it possible to add shipping cost by postcode / or county (state) and apply that to certain products, (some products are sent by Parcel Force) and is it possible to put this cost on the product page in a type of dropdown box where the customer selects their postcode / county (state) and it adds that cost to the shopping cart and invoice. I'd rather they see the cost upfront than them completing the purchase and checkout process and seeing the cost at that late stage.

Here's hoping !

Mark.

Hello Omega,

Thankyou for your reply.

I did see and read that post, but, I think I'm right in saying that using that method then the delivery cost would only be shown late on in the checkout process ? I'd prefer to show the cost during the add to cart process so it's not so much of a shock during the checkout process. The other way I thought to do it was to add it as an option/feature which would be shown on the product page and force the user to select a shipping county/postcode during the add to cart process, however, we also have products which are sent by 3rd party and need to be set as the default shipping method.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Mark.

Anybody ?

I'm coming to the conclusion that Prestashop could be a little more flexible for shipping options, especially for storeowners who need to charge by delivery mile per product rather than by weight or product price. Is there a module that could be bought to do this ?

I've turned into an insomniac trying to sort this.

Thanks for reply Mike.

Currently I've set up all the 'zones' or counties of the UK and about to set up all the postal towns within each zone, then assign fees by weight range for carrier and zone, then give each product a weight, this theoretically will default the carrier and the relevant fee when customer pops the product into their cart......Or so I thought, I have to set a default carrier which adds their shipping cost even though it's not within the weight range of the product selected, now, I'm f******ed.

Roger over and out.
