Adding Combinations to Module: Featured Products on the homepage

My client would like to sell items that are personalised, therefore there will be one or two products but many colour options. So, I would like to show 8 items on the home page. If there are only 2 products, how can I feature some of the combinations on the home page as well? I am prepared to alter homefeatured.tpl but would need advice on altering homefeatured.php. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Finally figured this one out. I had to write custom code to do this, and it is not automatic, but it works. If anyone is interested please PM me. Thanks.

That's a cool module. (I wonder if you could make it work from the cart page also, just for all those last minute changes )

 

Custom code is still the way to go for me. Imagine if your client asked to display all the colour shades of the iPod nano on the home page just to fill it out.
