piccante Posted August 30, 2011 Share Posted August 30, 2011 Hi all, I've searched for hours for the solution but can't find what's going on... or what I'm doing wrong. I've got a (modified) default theme install of v1.4 installed and working well. I want to allow out-of-stock ordering but can't see where the out-of-stock or back order message is shown during the checkout? It seems that the order goes through as if the product were in stock (I want to display a message that the delivery will take an extra two weeks). In Preferences > Products I have enabled out of stock ordering and Stock Management is also enabled. The product (in the catalog) has enabled "when out of stock allow orders" and there is a message for in stock and out-of-stock orders. Where is the message to the customer displayed that the product they have ordered is out of stock and it will take more time for delivery? Heeeeeelp! Thanks in advance! Mike Kranzler Posted September 1, 2011 Share Posted September 1, 2011 Hi piccante, When you edit a product in your Back Office under Catalog, you get the option to Allow Orders When Out of Stock, which you can allow. And right above that, you'll see that you can choose specific text to show up on the product page before they even add it to their cart. I hope this helps. So there I added specific text: back ordered (2 week delay) But when I go to view the products they all come up as Available Any ideas? If you are going to add text for Back Ordered products, you also need to fill in the field above it for what to do when the product is in stock. I added "In Stock" to that field and its working fine for me now. They still show up as available in the Category list because you're set in your back office to allow orders when out of stock, but if you open the actual product, it looks fine: And keep in mind, I only updated this one product to make sure it was working properly. It would be great if the message could also be in the category display because if people do an add to cart from there they will never see the message. Any way to do that?
