irlguy
Hi PrestabaseThanks for the quick reply. I have tried using "localhost" as the input for database server name the error message "database server was not found" keeps appearing. I can't figure out what the problem is.Do I have to substitute a value in for "localhost" or is that exactly what I should be writing into the field?Sorry if my questions seem very basic but I've tried everything I can think of and I've had no luck! Here are my inputs for the remaining 3 fieldsDatabase Name: (account user name)_(database name)Login: (account user name)_(database user name)Password: (database password)I've also tried the following but neither set of values has workedDatabase Name: (database name)Login: (database user name)Password: (database password)Any Idea what I'm doing wrong? prestabase
Hello,Please try using your servers IP address instead of localhost. You may need to contact your host. Also, have you verified the user has full privileges with the database?
MarkF
Hi,I just did my first installation (v1.1) to try out Prestashop and had the same problem.Changing between localhost and the IP address didn't work, but I seemed to have fixed the problem as follows - I had created the maximum strength password in CPanel, i.e. 12 characters, including symbols/punctuation.So I created another user with a password of 9 chars and no symbols/punctuation (less strength) and it worked okay.I then deleted and re-created my first user as per the test user and it worked fine.Is this something to do with password strength, or just deleting & re-creating the db user?RegardsMark
prestabase
hmm, I believe a demo store of ours was installed on a database with the maximum password strength cPanel can generate. Recreating the user and db, may have fixed the issue.I'll try it out and get back to you...
prestabase
I was correct, a maximum strength password works. The password was "}gQ7ndT/)x>$" and the install went fine.
MarkF
Thanks - looks like re-creating the user is all that's needed to fix the problem if it occurs.RegardsMark
