Adding Categories with Photos to Main Page

Hi All,

 

I am developing a site for a client of mine - www.plumberlink.com.au

 

They want to have 3 or 4 images where the current 4 products are displayed (beneath the animated banner) instead of having actual products with prices. basically they don't want any prices just to have a picture of a category that say 'prices from blah blah' and when clicked that then enters that category. If that makes sense.

 

I'm really not sure how to do this - i was going to create 'imaginary' products but then i don't know how to remove the price and add to cart from just those featured.

 

I'd really appreciate some help on this one - i'm at a loss as to how to go about it?
